Surrogacy is basically a form of ART which is assisted reproductive technology where a woman (surrogate) offers to carry the baby through pregnancy on behalf of another couple and then returns the baby to the intended parents once the baby is borne. It is a highly complex process and there are numerous important steps involved to ensure that both the parties make the best decision including extensive counseling psychiatric assessment and independent legal advice. Surrogacy Services is an arrangement that is often supported and done with a legal agreement between a woman and a couple longing to become parents to carry the pregnancy to due term and also give birth to the child and return to the intended parents.

Know the Different Types of Surrogacy Services:

Traditional Surrogacy: In this surrogacy method, a surrogate mother is artificially inseminated either by the intended father or from an anonymous donor and carries the baby to term. Hence, in this process, the child is genetically related to both, the surrogate mother and the anonymous donor or the intended father who provides the egg.

Commercial or Paid Surrogacy: The gestational carrier is economically rewarded to carry the child and also for the inconveniences and the problems caused as a consequence or repercussion of the surrogacy process.

Uncompensated Surrogacy: In this surrogacy method, all the expenses incurred during pregnancy or as a consequence of being pregnant like maternity clothing, special care, special diet, or emotional support are paid by the intended parents and no reward is offered to the surrogate mother for carrying the baby or pregnancy.

Gestational Surrogacy: This surrogacy method is a little different as an egg is removed from the intended mother or an anonymous donor and fertilized with the sperm of the anonymous donor or intended father. The embryo or the fertilized egg is then transferred to a surrogate who carries the baby to the term. In this method of surrogacy, the child is genetically related to the donors and not with the surrogate.
